WHS & Risk Management
At MK Facility Group, workplace health and safety is built into the way we plan, manage and deliver every cleaning service. We take a proactive approach to identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing appropriate controls to help protect our team, our clients, site occupants and members of the public.
Our WHS and risk management approach is designed to support safe, consistent and accountable service delivery across commercial, education, healthcare, strata, construction and other workplace environments.
Site Risk Assessments
Before commencing work, we assess the working environment to identify potential hazards and site-specific risks. This may include access requirements, wet areas, electrical equipment, chemicals, manual handling, working around occupants and other activities occurring on site.
Hazard Identification & Reporting
Team members are encouraged to identify and report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly. Early reporting allows risks to be addressed before they develop into more serious safety issues.
Safe Work Procedures
Our cleaners are expected to follow established safe work procedures relevant to the tasks they perform. Higher-risk activities are assessed accordingly, with appropriate controls and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) used where required.
Chemical Safety & SDS Management
Cleaning chemicals are handled, labelled, stored and used in accordance with manufacturer instructions and applicable Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Staff are instructed in correct chemical use, dilution, storage and the importance of never mixing incompatible products.
PPE & Protective Equipment
Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used according to the task and level of risk. This may include gloves, protective eyewear, masks, high-visibility clothing and other site-specific protective equipment.
Manual Handling & Injury Prevention
Cleaning can involve repetitive movement, lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying equipment. Our procedures encourage safe manual-handling techniques, appropriate equipment use and practical controls designed to reduce the risk of workplace injuries.
Slips, Trips & Public Safety
Wet floors, equipment, cords and cleaning activities can create hazards for both cleaners and building occupants. Warning signage, controlled work areas and safe equipment placement are used to minimise risks while cleaning is underway.
Incident & Emergency Management
Clear procedures support the reporting and management of workplace incidents, injuries, hazards and emergencies. Incidents are reviewed to identify contributing factors and determine whether additional controls or corrective actions are required.
Ongoing Risk Review
Risk management doesn’t stop after the initial site assessment. We review working conditions, client requirements, incidents and changes to the site or scope of work so that safety controls can be updated when necessary.
